In the early hours of this Wednesday (19), Arthur and Evandro joined André and Renato in the group of Brazilian men's doubles confirmed in the round of 16 of the Beach Volleyball World Cup. The classification came after the partnership beat New Zealanders Fuller and O'Dea B. by 2 sets to 1 (21/15, 17/21 and 25/23), in a tie break that seemed to never end.

Arthur Lanci was Brazil's top scorer, with 24 points scored, all attacking. However, the player with the most hits in the match was New Zealander Fuller. The athlete scored 27 points, 26 of which were attacking and one blocking.

How was the game?

With forced serves from Evandro and great reading from Arthur, the Brazilian pair built an advantage in the middle of the first half and maintained control until the end, when they won 21 to 15. In the second set, Evandro and Arthur started at a slower pace and saw Fuller and O'Dea distance themselves. The Brazilians got closer a few times, but it wasn't enough, and the match had to be decided in a tie break, after a 21-17 victory for the New Zealanders in the second half.

The third set was a true “cardiac test”. The partial went well beyond 15 points and only ended 25 to 23. At least, the feeling was one of relief for the volleyball fan who followed the match. Evandro and Arthur won after attacking the opponent. Thus, they closed the match in 2 sets to 1 and guaranteed their place in the round of 16 of the Beach Volleyball World Cup.

The Beach Volleyball World Cup

Between the 13th and 23rd of November, the city of Adelaide, Australia, will host the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Cup games. The competition, which debuted in 1997 and takes place every two years, reaches its 15th edition this season. Brazil is the biggest winner of the tournament, totaling 35 podiums, between the women's and men's categories.
