EDITOR'S NOTE: Are included SPOILERS from the end of season 4 of The BoysIf you are not up to date, we suggest you stop reading.

Last Thursday, July 18, Prime Video premiered the finale of the fourth season of the popular series The Boys from the creator and showrunner Erik Kripke.

This season's plot delved deeper into Homelander's political ambitions (Anthoy Starr) as he increasingly aligned himself with presidential candidate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit). This despite the fact that the leader of the Seven faced trial for the murder of a Starlight supporter (Erin Moriarty) during season 3.

In the season finale, Homelander took control of the United States. Before the President handed control over to Homelander, he declared martial law.

After this result, the Boys try to hide, but several Supes are sent to capture them, and only Starlight and Butcher (Karl Urban) they escape.

Kripke's show draws a story that satirizes the role of superheroes, presenting a world where they abuse their power and cross unthinkable boundaries. Its first season premiered on the streamer in 2019, becoming an immediate hit with both critics and audiences. Kripke revealed in June that the fifth season of The Boyswill be the final season.

With this in mind, what can we expect? Kripke told ladbible:

“Know, I think the end of season four really shows that we've been planning for five years.because there is no way a show would continue for another season after the events of that finale.

“As far as we're concerned, it's our show's version of the apocalypse.”

Homelander gets everything he's wanted all alongwhich is to completely remake the United States in their image and according to their whims. The boys are at their lowest point, most of them are captured and we worry about their future.”

I always look at it like the five seasons, we're at that point, it's like the end of the second act of a movie where everyone is really at their lowest point, and everyone has faced their own personal demons.”

“Now they really need to come together in season five and save the world.”

The Boys has been praised for its sarcastic humor, its satirical exploration of politics, as well as its shocking moments of violence and gore. The performances of the cast have also been applauded.

The main cast includes Starr, Moriarty, Urban, Jack Quaid like Hughie, Erin Moriarty like Annie/Starlight, Jessie T. Usher like A-Train, Laz Alonso como MM, Chace Crawford como The Deep, Tomer Capone like Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara like Kimiko. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead, Supernatural) joined season 4.
