Ingredients
1 kg of cassava, peeled and cut into pieces
500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or chicken)
1 medium onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Chopped green chili to taste
200g grated mozzarella cheese
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of butter
1 tablespoon of wheat flour
Olive oil to grease the refractory
Directions
- Cook the cassava in boiling water until it is very soft. Drain and reserve.
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
- Add the ground beef and sauté until completely cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and let cook for a few minutes until they start to break down.
- Turn off the heat and add the chopped green chilli. Reserve.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a pan, heat the butter and add the wheat flour, stirring constantly until it forms a paste.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, until you obtain a homogeneous cream. Season with salt to taste.
- In a refractory greased with olive oil, make a layer with half the cooked and mashed cassava.
- Cover with the ground beef stew.
- Spread the other half of the cassava over the stew.
- Pour the cream and flour over the cassava.
- Cover with grated mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot.
