Etienne Daho “The Lighthouse” – sometimes it’s amazing how artists evolve over the course of their careers. Since the late 80s I’ve liked the music of the French singer Étienne Daho, whose style has now changed from synthpop to light wave and chanson-like rock to more psychedelic elements. The new album “Tirer la nuit sur les étoiles” is a bit more pop again, but still with a certain pull towards the goal. Definitely a candidate for my top 10 of the year. His duet with Vanessa Paradis is also very nice, I think.
deary «Beauty in all Blue Satin» – unlike E. Daho, this band is brand new and has only released two singles. The current one is wonderful shoegaze in the spirit of Slowdive with a Cocteau Twins vibe.
