The screenwriter and director Fede Álvarez released the sequel in 2024 Alien: Romulusthe most recent installment of the horror and science fiction saga Alienwhich enjoyed much commercial and critical success.
So it is not a surprise to know that Álvarez is working on the script for a sequel to Alien: Romulusof which he revealed the first details to Empire:
“Shows [Sayagues] and I'm working on it right now.
“We are excited to see where we can go.. We have almost met all the requirements I want to see [en Romulus] and we have recovered many of the things I haven't seen in a long time. Wherever we go now, we may enter uncharted waters.”
Sayagues and Álvarez collaborated in writing the scripts for Alien: Romulus, Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe, Don’t Breathe 2and the story for the 2022 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The Uruguayan filmmaker continued telling the outlet:
“I think that It will be very exciting to go with characters you know from this movie to a place from the Alien franchise that we have never been before and discover things you have never seen before.
“The common mistake with sequels is to do them because you can, and due to the success of Romuluswe can definitely make a sequel. But I wouldn't do it unless we have a really good idea, something worthy of that title.”
In October 2024, Steve Asbell, an executive at 20th Century Studios, spoke about a sequel to Romuluswith the return of the survivors of the events of the plot, Cailee Spaeny y David Johnson.
Asbell shared that he is working on an idea for a sequel, waiting to close a deal with Álvarez.
“The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were the highlights of the film. So I always think, 'Wow, where do people want them to go next?' We know there will be aliens. We know there will be great horror scenes. But I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is.”
The plot of Romulus was located between the timeline of Alien (1979) by Ridley Scott, and the sequel Aliens (1986) by James Cameron.
it's 2025, FX will premiere Alien: Eartha universe prequel series Aliendel showrunner Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo), and executive producer Ridley Scott.
The series is set in the year 2120, two years before the events of Scott's original film. The plot will address and explore the rise of the infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and the race between corporations to create android life.
