The independent film company, A24is starting the marketing campaign for its new horror project, Opuswhich has just been announced as part of the Sundance Film Festival lineup, so it will premiere on the festival stage in January 2025, which describes the feature film as “flashy pop horror.”
The studio revealed the first official look at the film, focused on the protagonist Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) playing a journalist named Ariel, and plot details.
“A young writer is invited to the remote home of a legendary pop star who mysteriously disappeared 30 years ago. Surrounded by the star's cult of sycophants and drunken journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.
Written, Amber Middle Dogs (Prey), Juliette Lewis (Yelloswtone) y John Malkovich (Billions) make up the main cast, with Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost), Young Teeth (Beef), y Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon).
Edebiri will play the “meek but hungry journalist Ariel, whose unique charm radiates along with a distinctive final girl prescience. John Malkovich is effervescent and hypnotic as Moretti, a deified global phenomenon who makes a dramatically malevolent reintroduction.”
It is also a “tense, psychosocial game of cat and mouse.”
Mark Anthony Green debuts as a feature film director and screenwriter with Opus.
