The British filmmaker, Guy Ritchieknown for dabbling in genres such as gangster comedies and espionage thrillers, is varying his extensive filmography with his most recent project, Fountain of Youthwhich mixes genres such as action and adventure for the whole family.
On diversifying his body of work, Ritchie explained to EW:
“I found myself feeling that if I wasn't too careful, I would end up in a comedy-action-gangster genre, which of course I'm comfortable and enjoy, but at some point, I thought, you have to spread your wings as a writer and director.”
The same medium shares the three first official looks at the film starring Natalie Portman, John Krasinski y Eiza González.
Ritchie describe Fountain of Youth as “in the vein of Indiana Jones, but contemporary.”
The plot follows two estranged siblings, Luke and Charlotte Purde, played by Krasinski and Portman, respectively, who team up for a global heist to find the mythical spring of the Fountain of Youth.
“They both come from an archaeological background in which they have searched for archaeological objects, so there is a common history,” says Ritchie. “They are estranged, but they find an excuse that they need to come together to find this particular treasure.”
The script was written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, Scream 5, Scream 6).
Krasinski describes his character Luke as:
“The definition of 'living life to the fullest,' he's not one to sit still. His adventurous spirit always makes people have fun… even if it's at his sister's expense. It was that perspective on life that set him apart.” who made playing Luke a blast.”
Charlotte’s origins are also adventurous, although she has chosen to lead a “more stable life.” Portman adds:
[Su hermano la] “push back into adventure. It was fun playing a woman who is getting her wild side back.”
The rest of the cast is made up Carmen Ejogo (The Penguin), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Laz Alonso (The Boys), y Arian Moayed (Succession).
