Mel Gibson will present audiences with its sixth feature film for cinemas, the survival thriller Flight Risktitled in our market as Threat in the airwhich has just revealed a new official trailer.

The film stars Mark Wahlberga pilot tasked with transporting an American air agent (played by Michelle Dockery) and a government witness (played by Topher Grace) to trial. But, in a change from the heroic roles he usually plays, Wahlberg is actually a hitman with his own ulterior motives. The two passengers soon find themselves trapped in the air with a dangerous pilot, leading to a claustrophobic thriller that unfolds at 30,000 feet.

SYNOPSIS:
“An Air Marshal transporting a fugitive across the Alaskan wilderness in a small plane finds herself trapped when she suspects her pilot is not who he says he is.”
Gibson directs the script written by Jared Rosenberg.

This is his first film since Hacksaw Ridge in 2016, which earned him his second Oscar nomination for best director.
Right now it is in pre-production of The Passion of the Christ: Resurrectionthe two-part sequel to the acclaimed The Passion of Christwhich has been in the making for a long time. The plot will follow Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ, as he travels to other realms during the three days between his crucifixion and his ascension to heaven. That film is expected to begin filming early this year in Malta.
Lionsgate set the premiere of Flight Risk for him Friday, January 24, 2025 in the United States. In Mexico and the rest of Latin America will premiere on January 23 with Corazón Films as distributor.
