Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cornmeal

  • 1 cup of wheat flour

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup of oil

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • A bit of salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. 
    Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with cornmeal or wheat flour.
  • In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, wheat flour, sugar and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs lightly. 
    Add the oil and milk, mixing well.
  • Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Add the baking powder and mix again, but don’t mix too much, just enough to incorporate the yeast into the dough.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool before unmolding.
