'God of War': Ed Skrein will play Baldur in the live-action Prime Video series

The live-action series God of War of Prime Video announced a luxury signing.

With pre-production underway in Vancouver, The incorporation of Ed Skrein playing Baldur was revealedyoungest son of Odin (via Variety).

Baldur's official character description reads:

“Baldur may be Odin's youngest son, but he is his father's most dangerous weapon. Charismatic, unpredictable, and with a sharp tongue, Baldur lives by his own rules. As a child, Baldur was cursed; this curse denied him the ability to feel pleasure and physical sensations. This fuels an insatiable rage and bloodlust in Baldur, who prefers a combative fighting style that combines his immense power with the impact of his fists. Above all, he craves an opponent who truly can match his prowess in battle. An opponent who can finally make him feel something.”

Skrein is best known for playing the villain Francis/Ajax in the first installment of the franchise. Deadpoolin addition to roles in Rebel Moon, Jurassic World Rebirth, Alita: Battle Angeland series like Game of Thrones y All the Light We Cannot See.

The actor joins a cast headed by Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) czomo Kratos, Teresa Palmer (The Fall Guy) as Phoebe/Sif, Thor's wife and goddess of family, Callum Vinson (Crystal Lake, Long Bright River) as Atreus, the young god son of Kratos, Mark Parker like Heimdall, Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) like Odin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Severance) as Thor, Alastair Duncan (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) like Mimir, and Danny Woodburn (The Witcher) y Jeff Gulka (Van Helsing) like the brothers Brok and Sindri.

The long-awaited adaptation of the classic PlayStation video game is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

Based on the ancient mythology-themed PlayStation video game, the series from the writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, For All Mankind), God of Warfollows father and son, Kratos and Atreus, on their journey to spread the ashes of his wife and mother, Faye.. Throughout their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father to be a better human being..

Kratos is a Spartan by birth and a god by nature. Raised in a martial culture, he rose to command armies in the service of his homeland until one day he made a fateful pact with Ares, the Greek god of war, and lost his soul in exchange for victory in battle.

Over the course of 10 successful games, Kratos defeated mortals, creatures, and gods alike. In the process, He became an iconic pop culture character., Known for his stoic nature, undeniable combat skills, and tragic past.

In the live action seriesthe Kratos' story will closely follow the path of the previous two games as he deals with something new: his ten-year-old son, Atreus.. This father-son dynamic began a new chapter in the legendary series and will be the driving force of the new series.

Prime Video awarded green light for the seasons.

Frederik E.O. Toye (The Boys, Shogun) will direct the first two episodes.
