Legendary has already found the director of the next sequel to the MonsterVerse. According to reports from Deadline, the studio signed Grant Sputore to take charge of the sequel to the kaiju cinematic universe.
The sixth installment of the MonsterVerse was launched last May, after the success achieved by Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire from director Adam Wingard, who was unable to return as director due to his work schedule.
Sputore is the director of the acclaimed science fiction film I Am Mother, whose premiere at Sundance in 2019 caused a stir among critics. The film starred Hilary Swank and Rose Byrne. After its premiere at the festival, it was acquired by Netflix.
Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is writing the script for the upcoming sequel. Callaham wrote the first drafts of Godzilla (2014), and other films like The Expendablesthe reboot of Mortal Kombat, Wonder Woman 1984, y Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
At the moment it is unknown if the sixth film will be a direct sequel to Godzilla x Kongor if a different story will be addressed.
