“The end of our world was just the beginning,” warns Lionsgate, in the new installment of the catastrophe cinema, Greenland 2: Migrationwhich promises new threats for the Garrity family.
The studio shared with the audience the second trailer for the sequel to Greenland (2020), with the returns of Gerard Butler y Morena Baccarin as protagonists, and those of the director Ric Roman Waugh and the screenwriter Chris Sparling.
The one titled in our region as The day of the end of the world: Migrationwill present other dangers for the Garrity family, as they are forced to leave the bunker shelter in Greenland, which they reached in the first film.
The plot takes us five years after the initial impact of a comet that decimated much of the Earthwith Butler as John Garrity and Baccarin as Allison Garrity, and their son, played by Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit, The Long Walk), facing another catastrophic event when a shower of interstellar comets impacts Earth's atmosphere.
Fighting for life in a Greenland bunker, the distraught Garrity family must leave the safety of the bunker and navigate the shattered, frozen and radioactive wasteland of Europe in search of a new home.

The end of the world was just the beginning, and when the opportunity arises to find an oasis within so much destruction, John and Allison's family does not hesitate: they embark on an adventure to save their lives. But the journey is dangerous, and the world itself may not allow them to open their eyes one more day to tell it…

The script was co-written by Sparling y Mitchell LaFortune (Kandahar, Last Breath).
Thunder Road Pictures and G-Base are producing the feature film with Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Sebastien Raybaud, John Zois, Brendon Boyea and Waugh producing.

The first film, which became a hit in viewing upon its arrival on VOD platforms, follows structural engineer John Garrity (Butler) and his wife Allison (Baccarin), who find their family's life turned upside down by the unexpected detour of a planet-destroying comet that will fall on Earth. They then embark on a dangerous journey to Greenland, hoping to survive what could be possibly devastating circumstances for the world.
Greenland It was scheduled to be released in theaters in June 2020, however, with the massive closure of theaters, STXfilms, the film's distributor, decided to discard the big screen debut and opted to release it directly on VOD platforms in December 2020.
In the international market it was released in theaters, accumulating a box office of $53.5 million dollars, for one of the best box offices in times of pandemic.
In theaters, January 6, 2026. In Mexico will premiere on January 29 con Diamond Films.
