Candace Cameron Burebest known in many parts of the world for her role in the family sitcom Full House and the revival Fuller Houseprovoked the fury of many after the interview with The Wall Street Journal, where the actress spoke about her new home on the small screen, Great American Familysaying that will not give attention to stories with gay couples in leading rolesy “it will keep traditional marriage as its center.”
Great American Family is distinguished by broadcasting entertainment programming, both movies and TV series, oriented to the traditional family.
Bure is the creative director of Great American Family, a network she joined after leaving the Hallmark Channel. Bure revealed to WSJ that she left Hallmark for Great American Family because “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians who love the Lord and wanted to promote faith-based programming and good family entertainment.”
The founder of the Great American Family is the former CEO of Hallmark, Bill Abbottwho doubled down on Bure’s claim that the new network will not highlight gay couples.
“It is certainly the year 2022, so we are aware of the trends. There’s no blackboard that says, ‘Yes, this,’ or, ‘No, we’re never going here.
The comments of both for WSJ resounded on social networks, one of the main voices being that of Hilarie Burtonactress recognized for series such as One Tree Hill, White Collar, Extant, y Lethal Weaponand for starring in several Lifetime movies.
Burton called Bure a “bigot,” and both her and the Great American Family “disgusting.” Some of Burton’s Twitter posts say the following:
“Bigoted. I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that wave of prejudice all the way to the bank.”
“Now they are just openly admitting their bigotry. I exposed this shit years ago when Abbott was at Hallmark. I’m glad they let him go. Being LGBTQ is not a “trend.” That guy and his network are disgusting. You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples.”
