Hilary Swank joins the third season of 'Yellowjackets'

The third season of the survival drama, Yellowjackets of Showtimehas just announced the signing of the Oscar winner, Hilary Swank.

According to Deadline reports, Swank joins in recurring role as guest star, with the option to become a regular role in case the series is renewed for a fourth season.

Filming is currently underway in Vancouver.

Yellowjackets of the co-creators, co-showrunners, co-executive producers, Ashley Lyle y Bart Nickersones both one survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age dramawhich portrays the consequences that a group of former soccer players deal with, 25 years after surviving a chilling incident in their adolescence: a plane crash that falls deep into the remote wilderness of the northern United States.

The details of Swank's character were not revealed, although we could speculate that it would be the adult version of one of the soccer players, whose story has not been addressed.

Swank joins Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell, who play the adult versions of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, Van and Lottie, respectively. Lewis does not return for the third season. Their teenage versions are played in the same order by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton.

The first season of the acclaimed Emmy-winning series takes us between the past and the present, and goes episode by episode, delving into the history and consequences of the harsh winter experienced by the teenagers, in which they had to resort to cannibalistic horrors to survive, as well as the havoc it causes in the adult lives of the small group of survivors.

Swank is a double Oscar winner for best actress for Boys Don’t Cry y Million Dollar Baby. His most recent roles include the films Ordinary Angelsy The Good MotherHe also starred in the series Alaska Dailyfor which she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2023.

The executive producers of Yellowjackets incluyen a Lyle, Nickerson, Jonathan Lisco,, Drew Comins, Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa y Brad Van Arragon.

The third season will premiere on Paramount Plus in 2025.
