Ingredients
1 Italian bread (baguette or other bread of your choice)
100g softened butter
4 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Cut the Italian bread into slices without separating the slices completely, leaving the base intact so that the bread stays together.
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt and black pepper.
- Using a spoon or spatula, generously spread the butter and garlic mixture between the slices of bread.
- If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the bread.
- Wrap the bread in aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is hot and the butter has melted.
- If you prefer a crispier garlic bread, remove the foil during the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Remove the bread from the oven and serve hot. It can be served with sauces or simply enjoyed on its own.
