Ingredients
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or a mixture of the two)
1 can of tomato sauce (about 400g)
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon of oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup water (optional, to adjust the consistency)
Red pepper flakes (optional if you prefer it spicier)
Directions
- In a large pan, heat the olive oil or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until soft and lightly browned.
- Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely cooked and browned, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spoon as it cooks.
- After the meat is cooked, add the tomato sauce to the pan. Mix well.
- Season the sauce with paprika, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper to taste. If you want a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes to taste.
- If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little water to adjust the consistency until it reaches the desired thickness.
- Let the hot dog sauce cook on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken a bit.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve hot over hot dogs, hamburger buns, fries or as desired.
