“Absolute power is within our reach.”
After debuting the official poster, HBO returns this morning to present the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited third season of House of the Dragonthe acclaimed prequel series Game of Thrones.
The third season is scheduled to premiere on HBO and HBO Max in June 2026. The series was previously renewed for a fourth season with a premiere scheduled for 2028.

Under the motto of the season “From fire comes darkness”the trailer shows members of the divided House Targaryen going into battle, with plenty of dragon action. This season will include the anticipated sequence of the Battle of the Gorgeoriginally planned for the second season, but was ultimately decided to move to the third season, after the number of episodes in the second season was reduced to eight.
The aforementioned Battle of the Gaznate will be the starter of the third season of the dragon house.
The eighth and final episode of the second season, “The Queen Who Ever Was”left the table set for the third season to start with the iconic and bloody Battle of the Gullet, a very important story from the book Fire & Blood by Martin.
the dragon house sets its plot in Westeros, 200 years before the events portrayed in GoT before the fall of the Throne, exploring the beginning and end of House Targaryen after the unification of the Seven Kingdoms.
The first season dramatized the backstory of key characters in King Viserys's reign and the civil war that resulted from his disrespected succession plans, and other heartbreaking events.
The second season, which ended in August 2024, picks up the story immediately after the death of Lucerys Velaryon, son of Rhaenyra, at the hands of Aemond Targaryen. The season focused on the escalation of the conflict, taking the plot from a cold war to the bloody civil war widely known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The cast of HOTD includes the returns of Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall y Matthew Needham.
Some of the new additions for season three include Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy, Gladiator) interpreting the Ser Roderick Dustin; Dan Fogler (A Complete Unknown, saga Fantastic Beasts) as See Torrhen Manderly; y James Norton as Ormund Hightower. In George R. R's books, Martin, Dustin and Hightower face each other on opposite sides. Dustin is also known as “Ruin Roddy.”
