Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 2 cups of powdered milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Directions

  • In a pan, place the sugar and water. 
    Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it starts to boil. 
    Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to thicken and takes on a golden color. 
    Make sure not to let the mixture burn.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the sugar syrup cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, add the powdered milk and vanilla essence (if using).
  • Pour the hot sugar syrup over the powdered milk. 
    Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous dough. 
    You can use a wooden spoon or a spatula to do this.
  • Let homemade condensed milk cool completely before using or storing it. 
    You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
