Hulu has released the first trailer for its original series The Artful Dodgerwhich is a irreverent continued from the classic tale by Charles Dickens Oliver Twist.
The series is set in 1850s Australia and explores the double adult life of Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger. He now uses his old pickpocket skills to be a surgeon. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queens Gambit) stars in the series and is accompanied by David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell.
Dodger’s past returns torment him with the arrival of Fagin, “who wants to lure him back into the world of crime”. And an even greater threat – to Dodger’s heart – is Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon.”
The eight-episode series is described as “a story of reinvention, betrayal, redemption and love with a twist”. The series was created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor. It also stars Damon Herriman, Miranda Tapsell and Tim Minchin.
The Artful Dodger seems like a fun series and will premiere on November 29 on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in Australia.
