The independent cinema action thriller, Ballerina Overdriveadded more talent to its main cast.
According to reports from Deadline, the film from 87North and Gulstream Pictures, signed Maddie Ziegler (The Fallout, Fitting In) y AvantiKa (Mean Girls 2024).
In addition to those previously announced, Lana Condor (Abbott Elementaryfranchise To All the Boys, Alita: Battle Angel), Iris Apatow (Unstable, Love) y Millicent Simmonds (franchise A Quiet Place).
Vicky Jewson (Close, Born of War, Lady Godiva) directs the script of Kate Friend (Creepshow, Wyrm).
“Ballerina Overdrive follows a troupe of dancers struggling to survive as they attempt to escape a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.”
Filming is currently underway in Budapest.
Producers are Kelly McCormick and David Leitch of 87North, with Bill Bindley and Mike Karz of Gulstream Pictures, alongside Piers Tempest. Gulstream Pictures is financing the feature.
Ziegler will next be seen in the indie film that caused a sensation at Sundance 2024, My Old Asswhich premieres on Prime Video in September. This film marked a new collaboration between Ziegler and director Megan Park, who directed it in The Fallout (2022). He was also part of West Side Story y The Book of Henry.
For her part, Avantika debuted in the Disney Channel movie, Spin (2021). Later he made Senior Year (2022), to finally gain mainstream recognition with the musical version of the film Mean Girls (2024). This same year we saw her in the horror film, Tarot.
