The supernatural horror film, written and directed by Ian Tuasonhit theaters last Friday, March 13, and in just ten days it has become a resounding success with a micro budget in an amazing feat.
The Canadian production celebrated its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in July 2025, where it received extremely positive reviews. In the United States it was launched this month by A24and even without a release in the international market, is having an excellent financial performance in its exhibition in American theaters.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT UNDERTONE?
Nina Kiri she plays Evy, a skeptical co-host of a paranormal podcast she runs with her friend Justin (Adam DiMarco), who firmly believes in the supernatural.
When Evy returns home to take care of her mother (Michèle Duquet), who is terminally ill, she and Justin receive disturbing recordings of a married couple (played by Keana Lyn Bastidas y Jeff Yung) who report strange noises in their home. As Evy investigates, she becomes increasingly consumed by fear and paranoia.

In Mexico, Undertone will be released on May 7 under the title Undertone: Cursed Frequencyby Cine CANÍBAL.
