“I didn't want this. I didn't want any of this!”with those words spoken by the protagonist, Jessie Buckley (recent winner of best actress at the Critics Choice and the Golden Globes for Hamnet), in a moving tone that resonates in every corner, begins the first full trailer of The Bride!

The Bride!due to its title in our region, is a new version of the classic The Bride of Frankensteinwhich is resurrected in the hands of Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter), in her second feature film as screenwriter, director and producer.

Warner Bros. continues the marketing campaign by sharing the trailer, which was inspired by the original 1935 classic, The Bride of FrankensteinAs Gyllenhaal herself previously told, It was after seeing The Bride's tattoo all over a stranger's forearm.which laid the foundation for his project.

The filmmaker explained:

“I saw the movie and realized that [Elsa Lanchester, la Novia de Frankenstein original] does not speak It only appears for five minutes at most. It's still awesome, but I thought there was a problem with this concept. It's called the Bride of Frankenstein, but it's actually Frankenstein. “So who is she?”

Gyllenhaal sets out to correct this by giving Buckley's character not only a lot of dialogue, but also a lot more autonomy. In the trailer, while the monster (Christian Bale) calls her the “Bride of Frankenstein,” she corrects him: “Just the bride.”

At the same time, Gyllenhaal admits that Lanchester's character does have some autonomy in rejecting the monster.

“She's pretty rude. She wakes up and says 'no'. I mean, that's basically what she does and it's unusual. So I thought, What can I do with that? How can I approach this idea, which fundamentally has some major problems?”

The director also describes Bale's character as “beautiful, human, kind and so lonely”, which is why she asks her creator to find him a girlfriend. Of course, this raises a crucial question that the original Bride of Frankenstein never attempts to address.

“Well, what about her? That's what this movie is really about,” Gyllenhaal says. “What if he comes back with his own needs, his own plans, his own desires, and his own terrors?”

In addition to Buckley and Bale, the main cast of this punk-rock tale includes Penelope Cruz (Ferrari, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) as Myrna, Peter Sarsgaard (Memory, The Batman) like the detective, Annette Bening (Nyad) como la Dra. Euphronious, Julianne Hough (Safe Haven), y Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler).

The plot features a lonely Frankenstein (Bale) traveling to 1930s Chicago to ask pioneering scientist Dr. Euphronious (Bening) to create a companion for him. They both revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What follows goes beyond what either of them imagined.
