Amazon MGM Studios revealed the first trailer for the action comedy Jackpot!starring Awkwafina, John Cenay Simu Liu.
SYNOPSIS:
“Set in the very near future where a Grand Lottery has been founded in economically struggling California. The only caveat? If you want to legitimately claim the prize, you must kill the winner before sunset.”
The film, set in 2030, follows aspiring actress Katie (Awkwafina), who wins a winning ticket, but the lottery has a catch: other people can kill her before sunset to legally claim the multi-billion-dollar jackpot.
After hordes of people chase her across the city, she teams up with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (Cena), who has to drive her into the sunset in exchange for a share of the prize. However, Noel must face rival protection agent Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), owner of the largest lottery protection agency in Los Angeles who also wants to collect Katie's commission.
To the beat of “Holding Out for a Hero”a Bonnie Taylor theme song released in 1984, the trailer shows Katie and Noel escaping from those hunting them.
Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, A Simple Favor) directs the film with a script by Rob Yescombe (Outside the Wire).
The rest of the cast is made up of Ayden Mayeri, Sean William Scott (franchise American Pie), Machine Gun Kelly, Donald Elise Watkins, Sam Asghari (Lioness), y Murray Hill.
Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Feig and Laura Fischer are the producers. Cena, Michelle Morrisey, Yescombe and Zack Roth are the executive producers.
Prime Video will premiere Jackpot! on the streamer August 15, 2024 Worldwide.
