Looking ahead to San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Kevin Feige seeks to secure the fan audience of Bladethat the reboot that is being developed at Marvel Studios, and that was announced at SDCC 2019, is still on track and will remain true to its roots.

In these five years, the project that has signed the Oscar winner, Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Leave the World Behind) in a leading role, already Mia Goth (MaXXXine, Pearl) in co-starring role, has faced multiple bumps in the road. Such as the constant change in its release date and changes of director.

It is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on November 7, 2025, although a new director has not yet been secured since the departure of Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) and previously that of Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli).

Feige told BlackTree TV:

“Over the last few years, as we’ve been trying to figure out that movie, the most important thing for us is not to rush it. And to make sure we’re making the right Blade movie.”

And continues: “There were some great Blade movies years ago… they were all R-rated. So I think that's inherent, like Deadpool, inherent to the character of Blade.”

The half-vampire, half-man character, created by Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan, debuted in The Tomb of Dracula #10 in July 1973. Blade becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires. Between 1998 and 2004, three films were made based on the character, played by Wesley Snipes. Blade: Trinity was the last film to hit theaters two decades ago.
