When Kathleen Hanna formed Le Tiger in 1998 alongside friends Johanna Fateman (writer) and Sadie Benning (filmmaker) the idea was to be 'just' the support band for her Bikini Kill solo project, Julie Ruin. But as he said recently by the cornmeal guy, there was a chemistry, and the support band became their new band.

Less aggressive but as revolutionary as his former groups, Le Tiger has brought out Kathleen's most pop vein, bringing as a backdrop to his lyrics other influences and not (so) previously present.

The trio's first and namesake album, released just a year after its birth, represents as none of the two later this broth: from the New Wave of People like B-52's the LO-Fi and dancing electronics of contemporaries such as Peaches and Tracy and the Plastics, passing by rap, punk/post-punk, minimalist electronics and riffs Idem, The tigerthe album, is the clear example that you can celebrate while fighting.
