At the end of December of this year, Warner Bros. will be released in theaters Aquaman and the Lost Kingdoma film that will mark the closing of the DC cinematic universe, which began with the launch of Man of Steel (2013). After thatthe universe will be renewed and renamed DCU, under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The starter motor of the new DCU will be Superman: Legacywhat with Release date scheduled for July 11, 2025, is already making the signings of its main cast. In recent weeks it was revealed that David Corenswet (Pearl, Hollywood) will play Clark Kent/Superman, and Emmy winner, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will play Lois Lane. The previous week it was confirmed that the Venezuelan actress, María Gabriela de Faria (I am Franky, Animal control) will be the villain The Engineer, and now the antagonist will have company.
The signing of Nicholas Hoult (Renfield, The Menu) as the great antagonist Lex Luthor (via Deadline). The character has been played on other occasions by Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg.
The source reports that “the studio wanted to go through the casting process after the SAG-AFTRA strike.”
WB is collaborating with Hoult on the project Juror No. 2 by Clint Eastwood. He previously did so in the acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road.
Gunn will direct from the script he wrote himself. The script is based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
