Just a couple of days before the theatrical release of the reboot of the horror classic, Wolf Manfrom the director and co-writer Leigh Whannellthe studies Universal Pictures y Blumhouse a behind the scenes in which Whannell tells the audience how he created werewolf.

The story centered on a man whose family is being terrorized by a deadly predatorco-stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, Black Bear, It Comes at Night) y Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna, The Assistant).

Whannell explains in the behind-the-scenes video available below:

“When I was trying to find a new approach to the story, I thought about werewolf movies, and I knew I wanted to offer something new for audiences to experience.

“The story of the Werewolf is about an infection and a transformation. So, after the last few years of chaos the world has been through, the themes of isolation, fear and anxiety came out naturally.

“This movie is my homage to the 80s movies I grew up with. Movies like John Carpenter’s The Thing, David Cronenberg’s The Fly.”

Whannell previously collaborated with Universal and Blumhouse on the remake The Invisible Man. The filmmaker is also the co-creator of horror franchises Saw e Insidious.

It is the fourth collaboration between Whannell and Blumhouse (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man marks a new installment of Universal's monster universe.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Christopher Abbott plays Blake, a San Francisco husband and father who inherits his childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father disappears and is presumed dead. As his marriage to his powerful wife, Charlotte, frays, Blake convinces Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the estate with their young daughter, Ginger.

But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they are attacked by an invisible animal and, in a desperate attempt to escape, they barricade themselves inside the house while the creature prowls around the perimeter. However, as the night progresses, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide if the terror inside her house is more deadly than the danger outside.

The script was written by Whannell & Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo (Dumb Money).

Matilda Firth (Coma, Hullraisers) y Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale, Devil in Ohio), complete the cast of the film.

The Motion Picture Association (MPA), the body in charge of classifying films from motion picture studios in the United States, has awarded the Rated R a Wolf Man by:

“Violent and bloody content, gruesome images and some language.”

Jason Blum produces the feature film, with Ryan Gosling – who was attached to star for three years – Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell as executive producers. Blumhouse and Motel Movies are the production companies, with Universal as the distributor.

Universal Pictures set the theatrical release of Wolf Man for January 17, 2025.
