ABOUT THE MONSTER UNIVERSE OF UNIVERSAL
Universal Pictures' monster universe kicked off after the studio scrapped the Dark Universe and its plans for an interconnected monster universe following the failure of the reboot's release. The Mummy. Since then, the studio has focused on finding viable ways to keep monster characters relevant for a new generation.
Universal Monster films are rooted in the horror genre, unrestricted by budget, rating or genre. They are not part of a shared interconnected universe, allowing each film to stand on its own. This new direction is filmmaker-driven and invites innovative filmmakers with original and bold ideas to develop and present these characters' stories. That is to say, filmmakers will be able to take liberties with the interpretation of stories to bring them to contemporary audiences.
Universal Pictures set the theatrical release of Wolf Man for January 17, 2025.
