We are already in the week of the release in theaters (in the United States) of the highly anticipated horror film Longlegsfrom the screenwriter and director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), also know as Oz Perkinsand the distributor NEON.
The company has done an extraordinary job in promoting the project starring Nice Monroe y Nicolas Cageas FBI Agent Lee Harker, and the serial killer nicknamed Longlegs/The Man Downstairs, respectively.
NEON has managed to maintain the mystery of the project, with the latest in the marketing campaign being a new teaser titled “Heartbeat”a reference to Monroe's character's increased heartbeat upon first seeing Longlegs.
The distributor revealed to the public the scene in which Monroe meets Cage for the first time in full characterizationand lets us hear his heartbeat, which, according to NEON, reaches 170 bpm. For comparison purposes, his resting heart rate is 76 bpm.
Monroe explained: “When I walked in and saw Nicolas Cage for the first time as Longlegs, it was a visceral experience I will never forget.”

People say that Longlegs it is “in the line of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.” Many of the critics who have already had the opportunity to see the film, do not stop comparing it with the classic The Silence of the Lambs.
Monroe and Cage have been involved in numerous audience-favorite horror film projects. Monroe has starred in It Follows –which has the sequel underway They Follow–, The Guest, Significant Otherand more recently, Watcher. Cage, for his part, is remembered for Renfield, Pig, y Mandy.
SYNOPSIS:
“FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is assigned to a serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again.”
Alicia Witt (Urban Legend, I Care a Lot), Blair Underwood (Origin, American Crime Story), Vanessa Walsh (Murdaugh Murders: The Movie) y Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) complete the cast.
The film won the R rating by the MPA for:
“Bloody violence, disturbing images and some language.”
Perkins shot the film in Vancouver in 2023, and had a screening at the European Film Market (EFM) where it was acquired by NEON.
The producers are Cage with his production company Saturn Films, Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson.
NEON will premiere Longlegs In theaters July 12, 2024 in the U.S.In Mexico we will have to wait a little longer, it will be distributed by Diamond Films under the title Longlegs: Soul Collectorand will premiere it In theaters on August 29.
