The possibilities of a second season of the acclaimed HBO series, Mare of Easttownstarring Kate Winsletthey are growing.
Following the release of the first season on HBO in 2021, which captivated audiences, there has been speculation about Winslet's return as Mare Sheehan, a detective sergeant in a small town in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, who investigates missing and murdered young women.
The creator and screenwriter of the series, Brad Ingelsbythe director Craig Zobel, Winsletand HBO executives, have held on-and-off talks to bring back the series whose story was originally designed for a single season.
However, Winslet shared with Deadline that cameras could start filming a second season in 2027. While the actress was in London editing Goodbye Juneher directorial debut (now available on Netflix), emphasized:
“There were some conversations. There were formal conversations about when it would be possible. So I think we probably will.and it's the first time I feel like that. Actually it wouldn't be this year, I think it would end up being in 2027. There's a good chance it will film sometime in 2027.“.
In Mare of EasttownWinslet plays a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder, while trying to keep her life from falling apart. Mare lives in the same house as four generations of her family, where traumas torment them, while at work she faces horrible crimes. The series is a portrait of motherhood, family, community and murder, with masterful direction by Zobel, and a story by Ingelsby that explores and breaks down each layer of its characters in detail.
Mare of Easttown was nominated for 16 Emmys, with Winslet winning best actress in a limited series, and her co-stars, Julianne Nicholson y Evan Peters They earned it for their supporting roles. Winslet also took home the Golden Globe. Other cast members are Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, Cailee Spaeny, Joe Tippett, Bacon saucey Guy Pearce.
the drama Task by Ingelsby, is set in the same universe as Mare of Easttownso the rumors of a possible crossover, which have been supported by the protagonist himself, Mark Ruffalo, who told Deadline recently: “At some point, those two [programas] They might meet in the future, that's what they say.
