Marvel reveals 'Fantastic Four: First Steps' as title of new reboot

During the highly anticipated Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, the official title of the reboot of The Fantastic Four from the director Matt Shakman (Wandavision).

The reboot is titled Fantastic Four: First Steps.

It was also revealed that Michael GiacchinoOscar winner for the soundtrack of Up (2009), is the composer of the film's soundtrack.

The main cast is made up of Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) como Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) como Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) como Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, y Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) como Ben Grimm aka The Thing.

All of them were present at the SDCC panel.

The antagonistic role of the reboot is played by Julia Garner (Ozark) as Shalla-Bal, a version of the classic character, Silver Surfer. Also cast are John Malkovich y Paul Walter Hauser.

The reboot of The Fantastic Four It has a script by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, Avatar: The Way of Water), Jeff Kaplan (The Last of the Great Romantics), Ian Springer (The Last of the Great Romantics) y Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok).

The reboot is believed to be set in the 1960s, a time when writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby first introduced the Fantastic Four, the super team that launched the Marvel Universe in the comics.

Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1961, the Fantastic Four are a family of astronauts who are given superhero powers after being exposed to cosmic rays during a mission into outer space. Thing (Ben Grimm) is actually a former college football star, Reed's college roommate, and an expert pilot.

The project marks a reboot for Kevin Feige's Marvel Studios, after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019. Previously, Fox had made three films about Fantastic Fourthe first and second released theatrically in 2005 and 2007 respectively, were box office successes grossing over $635 million at the global box office, while the 2015 reboot directed by Josh Singer flopped at the box office with $167.8 million at the worldwide box office.

Fantastic Four will be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
