Chris Pratt has faced a wide variety of threats in his filmography, from beings from other worlds in the MCU, to Jurassic creatures in Jurassic Worldbut in the science fiction thriller, Mercywill face for the first time a tool, whose misuse in our world seems an increasingly real threat: artificial intelligence.
In the director's film Timur Bekmambetov (Profile, Wanted) y Amazon MGM Studios titled Mercilessly In our region, Pratt plays a Los Angeles detective accused by an AI court of murdering his wife. The artificial judge is played by Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, A House of Dynamite).
In the trailer we see that Detective Raven (Pratt), architect of a system that allows defendants to prove their innocence in 90 minutes, has been convicted. He faces an artificial judge (Ferguson), and does not know how it happened. Raven (Pratt) receives help from her partner, who helps her retrace her path.
The judge (Ferguson) appears on a monitor, with Pratt strapped into a chair.
By the way, in Latin America it will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
The rest of the cast includes Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country), Kenneth Choi (9-1-1), Annabelle Wallis (Malignant), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us).

On stage at NYCC2025, Bekmambetov commented on the film's setting in real time (via Deadline):
“We live in a world where AI is stalking us and we don't have time to understand what has happened. AI could be our enemy, our friend or our daughter. This ticking clock is a metaphor for the times we live in”.
The production used body cameras and drones to film the film, and robot dogs to film crowd scenes.
The producers are Bekmambetov, Robert Amidon, Majd Nassif, and Charles Roven, with Mark Moran serving as executive producer.
Mercilessly premieres in theaters January 26, 2026.
