The filmmaker Nancy Meyersconfirmed that his next film is about to begin filming.

During a Q&A session for the classic 1991 rom-com, Father of the Bride, co-written, produced and directed by Meyers, The filmmaker announced that she will shoot a new film in May 2026with the Oscar winner, Kieran Culkinas part of the main cast.

Meyers previously directed Culkin in both installments of the franchise The bride's fatherby his title in our region, when he was just a child.

In the same question and answer session, Meyers emphasized that this new feature film will be made “for cinemas, not streaming”an extremely notable decision, especially in times where streaming dominates releases in the rom-com genre.

It is not yet confirmed whether it is Paris Paramountthe big-budget rom-com ($100 million) that the filmmaker was trying to get off the ground, apparently with a home at Warner Bros. In 2023, Meyers wrote in an Instagram post, the issue of the budget as one of the reasons why the plans for said film did not materialize, adding a detail about the plot: “The film is about a group of people who make a film and the magic and mystery of what we do. As always, Lubitsch said it best,” Myers wrote on Instagram in 2023.

Originally launched by Netflix, Meyers asked the streamer for a budget of $150 million, and after being rejected by the platform that did not want to give her more than $130 million, Warner Bros. stepped in with an improved deal, albeit a smaller budget.

The curious thing is that now, Warner Bros. Discovery is in the midst of an acquisition by Netflix. We'll see what happens with Paris Paramount.
