Netflix revealed the first looks at season two of its original series, The Diplomatas well as its release date.
The drama created by Debora Cahn and starring Keri Russell, set the premiere of season 2 on the streamer for October 31, 2024a year and a half after the release of its first season in April 2023 (via Netflix).

In the first season, Russell played Kate Wyler, “a seasoned foreign service officer who feels more at home in a crisis zone than in an upper-class environment.”
In the first installment of the series, she was set to take on her next post in Afghanistan before a change of plans sent her to London as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Out of her element in aristocratic England, Kate was forced to push her diplomatic skills to the limit as multiple wars strained U.S. foreign policy and, closer to home, competition brewed with her husband, Hal (played by Rufus Sewell).
“In this high-stakes political drama, the significance and torture of long-term relationships between countries and people come to the fore,” according to the press release.
In an interview with Netflix Tudum, Cahn revealed that in the second season:
“Everything we thought we knew about the Wylers changes, as does everything they think they know about each other.”
The rest of the cast includes Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh. For the second season, Oscar and Emmy winner, Allison Janney (I Tonya, Mom, Masters of Sex, The Help), playing Vice President Grace Penn.
Russell, Cahn, Janice Williams, Peter Noah and Alex Graves serve as executive producers.
