New 'Longlegs' Poster Calls It a “Modern Take on Silence of the Lambs”

This week we will have the theatrical release (in the US) of the long-awaited horror project Longlegs from the screenwriter and director Osgood Perkinsalso know as Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), and the distribution company NEONwhich has made a huge marketing campaign for the film.

One of the project descriptions tells us that it is “in the line of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.”

And that has been one of the characteristics that has been most repeated in the reviews of critics who have already had the opportunity to see the film, as there are those who describe it as ““The best horror movie about serial killers since The Silence of the Lambs.” something that is present in the most recent promotional poster which includes a quote from Dread Central describing Longlegs as “A modern take on Silence of the Lambs.”

Nice Monroe y Nicolas Cage star in the horror thriller, she as FBI agent Lee Harker, who is on the trail of the serial killer nicknamed Longlegs, played by Cage.

The actors have been involved in a number of audience-favorite horror film projects. Monroe has starred in It Follows –which has the sequel underway They Follow–, The Guest, Significant Otherand more recently, Watcher. Cage, for his part, is remembered for Renfield, Pig, y Mandy.

SYNOPSIS:

“FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is assigned to a serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again.”

Alicia Witt (Urban Legend, I Care a Lot), Blair Underwood (Origin, American Crime Story), Vanessa Walsh (Murdaugh Murders: The Movie) y Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) complete the cast.

The film won the R rating by the MPA for:

“Bloody violence, disturbing images and some language.”

Perkins shot the film in Vancouver in 2023, and had a screening at the European Film Market (EFM) where it was acquired by NEON.

The producers are Cage with his production company Saturn Films, Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson.

NEON will premiere Longlegs In theaters July 12, 2024 in the U.S.In Mexico we will have to wait a little longer, it will be distributed by Diamond Films under the title Longlegs: Soul Collectorand will premiere it In theaters on August 29.
