Paramount Pictures The marketing campaign for the long-awaited sequel continues Sonic the Hedgehog 3which is scheduled to premiere in theaters around the world for December 20.
That is why, a little more than a month before this release, we receive a new look at Shadow, a video game character who is making his arrival to the franchise in this third installment of Sonic the Hedgehog, which has Jeff Fowlerdirector of the two previous installments, resuming his work behind the lens.
Shadow is one of Sonic's enemies, considered in many ways the anti-Sonic. It was created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik, grandfather of Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Jim Carrey), and genetically modified with alien DNA, speedster, with teleportation powers. Shadow debuted in Sonic Adventure 2 2001. For his film debut, his voice will be provided by Keanu Reeves.
Regarding Shadow's arrival in video games, Fowler explained to EW:
“'Aggressive' might not be the right word, but there was a new tonal element that suddenly made Sonic's world feel a little more exciting, a little more dangerous. I think that's exactly what Shadow has done for this movie“.
The third film will explore new areas of the video game universe created by SEGA.

SYNOPSIS:
“Sonic returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most exciting adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails will reunite to face a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers never seen before. With their abilities surpassed in every way, Team Sonic must seek an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.”
The script was written by Pat Casey, Josh Millery John Whittington.
The cast features the returns of Carrey, Ben Schwartz lending his voice to Sonic, James Marsden like Tom Wachowski, Colleen O’Shaughnessey lending his voice to Tails, and Idris Elba a Knuckles. Con Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally y Lee Majdoub, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Alyla Browne (Furious), James Cloud (Watchmen), Sofia Pernas (Jane the Virgin), Cristo Fernandez (Ted Lasso), y Jorma Taccone (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) completing the cast. For the Spanish-speaking market in Latin America, Luisito Comunica returns lending his voice to Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog It has been a great commercial success for Paramount. The combined global box office of the first two films totals $870.8 million. It is not surprising then for a third film, and even a spinoff series focused on Knuckles which was already released by the streamer Paramount+.
