Warner Bros. marketing campaign continues The Bride!, a new version of the classic The Bride of Frankensteinwhich is resurrected in the hands of Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter), in her second feature film as screenwriter, director and producer.
The main cast of this punk-rock story by Gyllenhaal is headed by Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) as The Bride, and Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) like Frankenstein's Monster.
It is precisely the pair whom we see in the most recent promotional images of The Bride!by its title in our region, shared by EW. In the photos, we can also take a look at Gyllenhaal herself who tells the media that she felt inspired to see the original 1935 classic after seeing The Bride's tattoo on a stranger's arm, something that in turn laid the foundation for her project:
“I watched the movie and realized she doesn't talk. She only appears for five minutes at most. She's still formidable, but I thought there was a problem with this concept. She's called the Bride of Frankenstein, but she's actually Frankenstein. So who is she?”
You can find the images at the end of the note.
In addition to Buckley and Bale, the cast includes Penelope Cruz (Ferrari, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) as Myrna, Peter Sarsgaard (Memory, The Batman) like the detective, Annette Bening (Nyad) como la Dra. Euphronious, Julianne Hough (Safe Haven), y Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler).
The plot features a lonely Frankenstein (Bale) traveling to 1930s Chicago to ask pioneering scientist Dr. Euphronious (Bening) to create a companion for him. They both revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What follows goes beyond what either of them imagined.
SYNOPSIS:
“A lone Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to seek Dr. Euphronius's help in creating a companion. The two revitalize a murdered young woman, and The Bride is born. She goes further than either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police, and a wild, radical social movement.”
Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren produce alongside Gyllenhaal. Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz are executive producers.
The original film by director James Whale was released in 1935. In recent times there have been several plans to launch a remake of Bride of Frankenstein. We remember Universal Pictures' failed Dark Universe, as well as Bride from A24 and Apple, with Scarlett Johansson, about which there has been no further news. On the other hand, Guillermo del Toro has the premiere of his Frankenstein with house on Netflix.
Warner Bros. releases The Bride! March 6, 2026 in theatersincluding performances in theaters IMAX.
