Apple TV+ has not officially confirmed to have season 4 of Ted LassoHowever, one of the original cast members is dropping hints about the return of the popular sitcom.
It is about Nick Mohammedcharged with playing Nate Shelley in the series, who posted a video on X/Twitter explaining that some of the dates on his “Show Pony” tour had to be rescheduled due to some filming, which raised some eyebrows.
Mohammed said on X/Twitter:
“I know there will be a lot of speculation about why I changed these dates… I'll be honest, it's because of some filming that I haven't been able to change.”
Joking that listening to fans' assumptions is “the last thing I want,” Mohammed briefly held up a sign that read “BELIEVE”a direct reference to Ted Lasso.
For his role in the series, Mohammed was nominated for two Emmy Awards for best supporting actor in a comedy series.
Last August, it was announced that Warner Bros. Television, the studio that produces Ted Lassois working on officially greenlighting a fourth season, ensuring the returns of Hannah Waddinghamwho plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, from Brett Goldsteinwho plays Roy Kent, and Jeremy Swiftwho plays the director of operations of the AFC, Leslie Higgins, who are governed by contract with the union Equity of the United Kingdom, and have a different type of contract than the actors members of SAG-AFTRA of the United States, whose contract has already expired.
The next thing would be to negotiate, precisely, with the cast members who belong to SAG, such is the case of the co-creators and executive producers, Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), as well as Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). Besides, Phil Dunster He would not be reprising his role as Jamie Tart, apparently due to work schedule conflicts, since he is currently working on the series The Devil’s Hour from Prime Video, and Surface from Apple.
Sudeikis is not only the co-creator of Ted Lassobut its main screenwriter, executive producer and protagonist.
Ted Lasso is based on a character Sudeikis played in a series of NBC Sports Premier League promos. Sudeikis developed the series with Joe Kelly and Bill Lawrence; Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, is another of the series' writers and co-producer.
The series follows Ted Lasso, a college football coach in the United States, who moves to England to coach a Premier League soccer team, AFC Richmond, a sport he has no knowledge of. The club is fighting to avoid relegation to the second division. The first season debuted on Apple TV+ in August 2020, where it immediately became an audience favorite.
Recognition from the industry was immediate. Ted Lasso It has been nominated 13 times for the Emmy Award, and has won two consecutive awards for Best Comedy Series, and best actor for Sudeikis (2), Goldstein (2), and Waddingham.
In the May 2023 season 3 finale, Keeley and Rebecca could team up for a new adventure, the AFC Richmond women's team, with all the main characters getting a happy ending, including Ted, last seen coaching his son on a football field in Kansas.
Sudeikis always conceived to tell the story of Ted Lasso in three seasons. The door was not closed when the third season aired, since continuing depended on finding the right idea.
