The screenwriter and director Robert Eggers presents this year the remake of the horror classic Nosferatuhis fourth feature film after The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman.
The marketing campaign Focus Features continues with a promotional clip, with a look at the first scene that the studio shares about this new version of Nosferatu.
The scene in question shows us Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol, Silent Night) y Nicholas Hoult (The Menu, Renfield). The preview is available at the end of this note.
The remake stars Bill Skarsgård (Barbarian, IT) playing Nosferatu/Count Orlock.
As we have witnessed, marketing Nosferatu will keep Skarsgård's characterization under wraps until the film's release in late December.
The rest of the cast is made up Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Simon McBurney (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Northman), y Willem Dafoe (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Lighthouse) as Professor Albin Eberthart Von Franz, vampire hunter.
SYNOPSIS:
“In the new reinvention, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient vampire of Transylvania (Bill Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing with him unspeakable horror.”
Eggers wrote and directed the remake, as well as producing it alongside Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus.
Eggers earned critical and audience recognition with his debut feature, the independent horror film The Witch (2016), which is classified by many as their favorite of the modern times genre. In 2019 he presented his second feature film, the also acclaimed film The Lighthouse, while in 2022 he launched his thirdthe epic Viking revenge adventure, The Northman.
The original 1922 silent film and German horror classic was directed by German director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. His script unofficially adapts the story of Bram Stroker's book, Draculaproviding the audience with an image that became an icon for cinematographic culture. In 1979, Werner Herzog directed another version of the classic.
Nosferatu premieres December 25, 2024 in theaters from the United States via Focus Features, and January 1 in Mexico and the rest of Latin America via Universal Pictures.
