Osgood Perkins sobre ‘The Monkey’: «Muy diferente a ‘Longlegs’»

The screenwriter and director Osgood Perkinsgave the audience one of the strongest projects of horror cinema in 2024, with the launch of Longlegs.

Now, again collaborating with the study NEON, prepares us for the premiere of another horror project, The Monkeyadaptation of the short story of Stephen Kingproduced by James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring), whose plot is starring Theo James (Divergent, The White Lotus, The Gentlemen) In double role as the twin brothers Hal and Bill.

The one entitled The monkey In our market, it follows Hal and Bill, who, after discovering his father's old toy monkey in the attic, begin to see a series of frightful deaths that occur around him. The brothers decide to get rid of the monkey and move on with their lives, distancing over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must meet to find a way to destroy the monkey forever before the lives of all their loved ones.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Perkins explains about his most recent project:

“If you are looking for comedy, you are looking for extremes, not subtleties. We are guilty of putting much more blood in our human bodies than is really in a human body. When someone explodes in this film (and a couple of people do), there is a lot of disorder. All death scenes were difficult to do. They all have a Goldbergian rube connection: this happens, then this happens, then this happens … “

Perkins wanted to have a result of something different from Longlegs:

“Honestly, I feel very good for [lo diferente que es The Monkey de Longlegs]. I cannot think of another comedy of surreal and morbid horror that is also moving and redemptive and starring a real gallant of cinema. That is the best news that I can offer the people who liked Longlegs: We do all kinds. Why did anyone want to eat the same every day?”.

The Monkey It is a short horror story that appeared in Skeleton Crewa 1985 collection that also included The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reachamong others.
