The acclaimed BBC’s original series, Peaky Blindersprepares the audience for the arrival of your film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Manwith which the story portrayed on the small screen will continue.
The feature film got the green light from Netflix in March 2024, with the return of the series creator Steven Knightas a screenwriter, Tom Harper as director, and the return of Cillian Murphy Like Tommy Shelby.
Other cast members from the series returning for the film include Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ian Peck, Ned Dennehyy Packy Lee.
The new additions are Barry Keoghan (saltburn, the banshees of inesherin), Rebecca Ferguson (Silo, trilogy Dune) y Tim Roth (Poison, Chronic).
Now, with filming completed in December and post-production in an active state – the feature film is being edited right now – Empire Magazine shares new looks at Murphy and Keoghan, as well as the first at Ferguson, who plays a new character in the world of Peaky BlindersKaulo, a mysterious acquaintance of Tommy Shelby (Murphy) whose exact role in the story has yet to be revealed.
The actress tells Empire Magazine about her reaction to Murphy, when he suggested her for the role of Kaulo:
“Basically, I said: 'I can't do a Brummie accent [de Birmingham], Friend, what are we going to do?'” he says between laughs. “That's not going to happen. Could she be Swedish?”.
“I try not to think about all the people who [adora la serie]because that's going to make me nervous. It is enough to know that, once Cillian is on horseback, the paparazzi take photos of him. You understand how important it is.”
“I was also very aware of the characters who have been there, those who are no longer there, and paying tribute to them”.
Murphy led the cast of the crime drama series, which had six seasons broadcast between 2013 and 2022. The first season (2013) was broadcast by BBC, gaining international popularity after being acquired by Netflix in the fall of 2014, for distribution outside the United Kingdom.
The series Peaky Blinders tells the story of Tommy Shelby (Murphy), and his family's rise to prominence and power, set against the backdrop of post-World War I working class Birmingham.
Previously, Knight revealed that Netflix will give the film Peaky Blinders, a theatrical release. Although we do not know if it will be a limited release in some theaters in the United States, or a traditional release, but taking into account the streamer's background, we would have to opt for the first option.
“I want this to happen in theaters so people can sit there together and watch this happen,” Knight said.
Knight co-produces the feature film alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
It premieres on Netflix on March 20, 2026.
