Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • salt to taste

Directions

  • Wash the basil leaves well and dry them carefully.
  • In a food processor, place the basil leaves, pine nuts (or walnuts) and garlic cloves. 
    Grind until they are finely chopped.
  • Add the grated Parmesan cheese and mix again.
  • With the processor on, slowly add the olive oil in a stream until obtaining a homogeneous mixture. 
    Stop adding the oil when you reach the desired consistency.
  • Taste and add salt to taste. 
    Mix again to incorporate the salt.
  • Transfer the pesto sauce to a jar or glass container with an airtight lid and store in the refrigerator.
