Lionsgate continues to share promotional material from the marketing campaign of The Strangers: Chapter 3the closing of the filmmaker's horror trilogy Renny Harlininspired by the original 2008 cult film The Strangers de Bryan Bertino.
The trilogy was launched in September 2022.
A first teaser trailer was released at the end of November, while now the studio shares a first official posterwhich you can take a look at at the end of the note.
The Strangers: Chapter 3 counts on the return of Madelaine Petsch as final girl Maya, facing the iconic masked killers one last time to close the trilogyalong with his co-stars Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, Pablo Sandstrom y Richard Brake.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“In the final film of The Strangers trilogy, Maya faces off against the masked killers one last time in a brutal, all-encompassing reckoning of survival and revenge.
Madelaine Petsch returns as Maya for the Final Girl's long-awaited revenge. Bound by a terrifying end, Maya and the Strangers find themselves in an inevitable and relentless collision – a showdown that proves they are no longer strangers.”
To recap, in the first film, Maya and her boyfriend Ryan (Froy Gutierrez) are forced to spend the night at a secluded Airbnb in the woods of Venus, Oregon after their car breaks down, where they are terrorized from dusk to dawn by three masked strangers, Dollface, Pin-Up Girl, and Man in the Mask.. From there, Lionsgate expanded the story in new ways in the sequels.
The script for the trilogy was co-written by Alan R. Cohen y Alan Freedland (The Freak Brothers, Due Date).
Harlin previously added about the projects:
“Without trying to trivialize it or explain it too much, the second and third films are an exploration of where it came from [todo]. More than anything, they are an exploration of what could happen to a person, in this case, a young woman, who is the victim of such senseless violence. What effect does that have on you mentally and physically, and what is your journey after that? It's an exploration of that more than anything. And I think we'll answer a lot of the questions that fans of the original have and then go much further. At the end of the third film, there really are more questions than answers.
The trilogy filmed its three installments consecutively in Slovakia. Chapter 1 was released in theaters in 2024, collecting a global box office of $48.1 million, while Chapter 2, which premiered in September of this year, had a global box office of $21.8 million.
Courtney Solomon, Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Charlie Dombeck, and Alastair Birlingham are producers of the trilogy, with Andrei Boncea, Dorothy Canton, and Roy Lee serving as executive producers.
The Strangers: Chapter 3 opens in theaters on February 6, 2026.
