Producers Union chooses 'Oppenheimer' as winner – Cine3.com

At the end of the Spirit Awards on Sunday, February 25, the 35th edition of the PGA Awards 2024awards from Producers Union (PGA; Producers Guild of America) that annually recognize the most outstanding producers in film and television productions. The day before, Saturday the 24th, the Screen Actors Guild's SAG Awards were presented, so it was a weekend full of award ceremonies.

EYE ON THE DATA: Since the founding of the PGA, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Best Motion Picture Producer, the ceremony's largest prize, has historically been a strong predictor of the Best Picture winner at the Oscars. 15 of the last 20 PGA winners have won the golden statuette for best film. (The Big Short, La La Landy 1917they have been three of those who have not repeated as winners at the Oscar).

The nominees for the 2024 Darryl F. Zanuck Award were American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives,Poor Things, y Zone of Interest.

Oppenheimer was chosen as the winner of the Producers' Union Awardsconsolidating its place as the clear favorite for the 2024 Oscar, which will be awarded on Sunday, March 10.

American Symphony won the PGA Award for best documentary; while Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse won the award in the animated film category.

In the television sector, Succession, The Bear, Beef, won in the drama, comedy, and limited or anthology series categories, respectively, while the docuseries Beckhamwon in the sports program category.

Finally, Martin Scorsese received the David O. Selznick Achievement Award, and Charles D. King received the Milestone Award.
