The Parisians reported that if Eric García's renewal does not materialize in the next three months, they will open negotiations with the defender for a valid pre-contract from 2026/27. One of the main reasons for the conversations to be in disagreement is García's salary request. Nevertheless, the Spaniard wants to stay at the blaugrana club, especially for the relevant role it has been playing in the cast recently.

In an interview with “Jijantes”, Eric García commented on being in conversations with the club for a contract renewal, as his bond ends in June 2026:
“Soon everything will be treated. We have already started talking about a renewal”said the Barcelona defender.
Versatility and Future at Barcelona
Acting as a defender and side, Eric García explained about his field positions and how he can help Hansi Flick:
“I've always been a defender, but I'm also comfortable to play on the side”commented the defender.
The defender defends the colors of Barcelona since 2021/22. However, on 23/24, he was loaned to Girona to play more. On his return to Barça, there were 45 games, with five goals and three assists distributed. This season, so far, he has participated in seven rounds of La Liga and once at Champions League. This justifies PSG's interest in a free transfer.
