Check out the step-by-step preparation method using the ingredients:
Ingredients
1 liter of cachaça (or drip)
3 cups of water
2 cups of sugar
8 cloves
4 pieces of cinnamon stick
Peel of 1 orange
Peel of 1 lemon
Ginger to taste (usually 1 piece of about 5 cm)
Directions
- In a large pan, combine the water and sugar and place over medium heat.
- When the sugar is completely dissolved, add the cloves, cinnamon stick, orange peel, lemon peel and ginger.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, so the flavors blend and the liquid takes on a strong, aromatic flavor.
- Then add the cachaça to the mixture.
Do not let it boil after adding the cachaça, so that the alcohol does not evaporate completely. - Reduce the heat and let the drink heat until it is very hot, but not to the point of boiling.
- Serve the quentão in mugs, ensuring that each cup contains some of the spices and fruit peels for flavor.
