Check out the step-by-step preparation method using the ingredients:

Ingredients

  • 1 liter of cachaça (or drip)

  • 3 cups of water

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 8 cloves

  • 4 pieces of cinnamon stick

  • Peel of 1 orange

  • Peel of 1 lemon

  • Ginger to taste (usually 1 piece of about 5 cm)

Directions

  • In a large pan, combine the water and sugar and place over medium heat.
  • When the sugar is completely dissolved, add the cloves, cinnamon stick, orange peel, lemon peel and ginger.
  • Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, so the flavors blend and the liquid takes on a strong, aromatic flavor.
  • Then add the cachaça to the mixture.
Do not let it boil after adding the cachaça, so that the alcohol does not evaporate completely.
  • Reduce the heat and let the drink heat until it is very hot, but not to the point of boiling.
  • Serve the quentão in mugs, ensuring that each cup contains some of the spices and fruit peels for flavor.
