Ingredients
1 cup of wheat for kibbeh
500g ground meat (can be beef, lamb or a mix)
1 small onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon of paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup of water
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Place the wheat for kibbeh in a bowl and cover with cold water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes, or until the wheat is soft. Then, drain well and squeeze to remove excess water.
- In a large bowl, combine the drained wheat, ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped mint, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Lightly grease a baking tray with olive oil.
- Spread the kibbeh mixture onto the baking sheet, pressing with the back of a spoon to even it out.
- With a sharp knife, make superficial cuts forming diamonds or squares on the surface of the kibbeh.
- Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1/2 cup of water.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for around 30-40 minutes, or until the kibbeh is golden and cooked inside.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before cutting into portions.
- Serve the baked kibbeh hot, garnished with fresh mint leaves, if desired. Enjoy!
