Ingredients
2 cups of cooked rice
1/2 chopped onion
2 minced garlic cloves
1/2 cup of grated cheese (you can use parmesan, mozzarella or other cheese of your choice)
2 eggs
2 tablespoons wheat flour
Chopped parsley or chives to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked rice, chopped onion, chopped garlic, grated cheese, eggs, wheat flour, chopped parsley or chives, salt and pepper.
Make sure all ingredients are well incorporated. - Heat the vegetable oil in a pot or skillet over medium-high heat.
- With slightly damp hands, take small portions of the rice mixture and shape them into dumplings.
The amount of dough you use for each cupcake will depend on the desired size. - Place the rice balls in the pan with the hot oil and fry them until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
Turn the dumplings during the process so they fry evenly. - Remove the fried rice balls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Repeat the process until all the rice ball dough has been used.
- Serve the rice balls hot as an appetizer, side dish or even as a main course.
They are delicious either on their own or with sauces such as chili sauce or herbed yogurt sauce.
