Make this delicious Arroz de Leite! It’s great to serve as a dessert. A wonderful rice pudding!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice

  • 4 cups of milk

  • 1 can of condensed milk

  • 1/2 cup sugar (optional, depending on desired sweetness)

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

  • Ground cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)

Directions

  • In a large pot, place the washed and drained rice.
  • Add the milk, condensed milk, sugar (if using) and salt. Mix well.
  • Place over medium heat and let cook, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • When the rice is almost cooked and the liquid has reduced, add the butter or margarine and continue stirring until you get a creamy consistency.
  • If you prefer a more liquid consistency, you can add more milk.
  • Remove from heat and serve hot.
  • If desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon on top before serving.
