The legendary director Ridley Scottrevealed the particular request of a studio executive.
During his participation in the Director's Cut podcast of the Directors Guild (via EW), Scott said that A studio executive criticized him early in his career for not making movies about “normal people.”
The filmography of the legendary director began with The Duellists, Alien, Blade Runner, y Legend.
Scott revealed to the podcast:
“Of all that pile, only one movie has been made, but the first four are pretty good. So I knew I was on the right track. But someone from one of the studios said to me, 'Why don't you make a movie about normal people?' I said, 'What the hell does that mean?' Because no one is normal unless you're totally boring, right?”
On the poor box office reception of the now considered a cult classic, Blade Runnerand the negative review written by Pauline Kael, Scott said:
“I didn't even know her. “For me, it almost falls into the category of industrial espionage, because a product is destroyed before it goes on the market.”
“They are all good movies, so there is something deeply wrong with the audience or the marketing. But, you know, I'm not bitter. I am very happy where I am. It is the best attitude one can have. I think, you know, that's the best attitude you can have, to just love all your movies, trust and move on.”
Scott's filmography also includes installments such as Thelma & Louise, G.I. Jane, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, The Martian, House of Gucciand many more.
Right now, Scott's latest sequel, the sequel, is playing in theaters around the world. Gladiator IIwhich has already exceeded $100 million dollars at the domestic box office, and $320 million dollars at the global box office.
